Shope Creek Wilderness · Asheville, NC
Gateway House
The Front Porch of Shope Creek Wilderness
252 & 254 Shope Creek Road · An artist residency and arrival point, held in perpetuity
✦ A New Chapter
Shope Creek Wilderness is expanding.
And the first artist is arriving.
Gateway House becomes a residency — a place where an artist lives, makes work, and begins hosting retreats on the land. The first artist-in-residence arrives in 2027.
✦ The Question Shope Creek Wilderness Holds
Shope Creek Wilderness's question isn't land.
It's where does the work live?
Where does an artist stay long enough to make something real?
Where does a retreat land before it moves onto the land?
Where do guests settle in before the wilderness receives them?
Where does a new practice take root and grow?
Where does the next chapter of this work begin?
Gateway House is the answer.
Not a rental next door. A piece of the ecosystem — the arrival point, the decompression chamber, and now a home for the artists who help this work grow. A place where someone can live, create, and begin hosting gatherings of their own.
The ecosystem starts to feel complete.
✦ The Ecosystem
Every piece now
has a home.

Gateway House completes the village. Without it, the work has nowhere to live. With it, an artist can arrive, stay, and grow something here.
✦ What It Is
Before the trail.
Before the fire.
Before the gathering.
Before the music.
There is a doorway.
Gateway House is where artists arrive, settle in, and make work. Part retreat house. Part artist residency. Part hospitality hub. Part community gathering place. The Shope Creek Wilderness non-profit — the 501(c)(3) — holds the property in perpetuity. A steward lives on site, designs the spaces, and holds the arrival experience, engaging with guests on their own terms.

A dedicated landing inside the Shope Creek Wilderness world. A chapter in the story.
✦ The 2027 Vision
An artist in the cottage.
Retreats growing beside the house.
The idea for 2027 is simple. An artist comes to live in the small one — the cottage — and begins hosting retreats alongside the larger house. They make their work. They invite people in. The land and the homes become a place where something is being built, not just visited.
The first artist-in-residence is Seraphina Solis.

First Artist-in-Residence · 2027
Seraphina Solis
A certified breathwork and yoga leader, creator of Ancient Souls Collective, and author developing The Curse Breaker. Her work invites people to recognize inherited patterns, return to the body, and act on what they know about the life they want to create.
From the cottage, Seraphina will develop her book and practice — and begin hosting retreats in the larger house and on the land. The residency is where her work and the work of Shope Creek Wilderness meet.
✦ The Hollow Bone Vision
Participation,
not transaction.
The Hollow Bone Initiative asks two questions: Can collective consciousness move beyond fear? Can we create a new nature of exchange based on participation rather than transaction?
Gateway House is the first physical answer to the second question. It is not a product to be sold. It is a threshold to be held — by the community, for the community, in perpetuity.
The non-profit holds the property. A steward tends it. An artist makes work here. Guests do not book a room — they are invited into a room. The difference is everything.
Not a rental.
Not a flip.
Not a for-sale listing.
Not a private investment.
Held by the non-profit. A home for the work.
✦ What Gateway House Becomes
The Arrival
The decompression chamber. Where the outside world lets go of people before the wilderness receives them.
The Held Threshold
A room held in trust — never sold, never split, never turned into a commodity. The community owns the door.
The First Yes
The gentle yes before the deeper yes that Shope Creek Wilderness asks of people. Gateway House is where participation begins.
The Living Room of the Village
Artists, stewards, founders, and seekers all pass through the same porch. The ecosystem meets itself here.
✦ Not a Rental. A Residency.
If you're an artist, a creator,
someone who needs time and space.
Gateway House is not a public rental. You don't book a room — you request a residency. The homes are held by the non-profit for people who need a place to make something: artists, writers, musicians, healers, founders, and anyone between one chapter and the next.
If you're somewhere needing time, space, and a place to land — the creek, the porch, the quiet, and the land are here. Tell us who you are and what you're working toward. We read every request personally.

✦ How It Fits Together
Stewardship, residency,
and hospitality — held on purpose.
01 · Stewardship
The non-profit holds the property.
Shope Creek Wilderness — the 501(c)(3) — holds both homes in perpetuity. Never sold, never split, never commodified for private profit. The non-profit's only mandate is stewardship in service of the mission.
02 · Residency
An artist makes a home here.
The cottage becomes a residency — a place where an artist lives, develops their work, and begins hosting retreats in the larger house and on the land. Seraphina Solis arrives as the first artist-in-residence in 2027.
03 · Hospitality
A steward holds the arrival.
A resident steward lives at Gateway House, tends the spaces, and holds the arrival experience for everyone who passes through — the doorman for the entire ecosystem. They don't own the home; they hold the role.

✦ The Door Is Open
The front porch
is ours.
"Gateway House is where participation begins — where the community builds the door, holds the door, and walks people through it together."
The creek is already there. The homes are already beautiful. The non-profit holds it. An artist is arriving. The front porch becomes the first room of the next chapter.
Shope Creek Wilderness is expanding. The door is open.
